Homemade ice cream

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Chilling Time: 1 hour
Churning Time: 20-30 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 40 minutes
Yields: 6 servings

Ingredients:

2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Mix the Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Chill the Mixture:
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour, or until thoroughly chilled. This helps the ice cream churn more efficiently and results in a creamier texture.
  3. Churn the Ice Cream:
Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Churn the ice cream for 20-30 minutes, or until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  4. Freeze for Firmness:
Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and smooth the top.
Freeze for an additional 2-4 hours for a firmer texture.
  5. Serve:
Scoop the ice cream into bowls or cones and serve with your favorite toppings (optional).
